LEGAL NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
​
Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the Jefferson Township Zoning Board of Appeals, Cass County, Michigan will be held on: Monday, June 2, 2025, at 7:00 P.M.
for the purpose of holding a PUBLIC HEARING for a variance for the below named petitioner at Jefferson Township, 24725 Jefferson Center Street, Cassopolis, Michigan.
Applicant wishes to erect a new residence with an attached garage.
There is a 7200-volt power line bisecting the property, which restricts the build site. Applicant wishes to move the structure south to within 37’ of property line.
Article 3, table 3-4 of zoning ordinance requires a set back of 60’, a difference of 23’.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON INCREASING PROPERTY TAXES
​
The Jefferson Township Board of Trustees will hold its annual Truth in Taxation & public budget hearing on the proposed township budget for fiscal year 2025-2026 at the Jefferson Township Hall 24725 Jefferson Center St, Cassopolis, MI 49031, June 12,2025, at 5:30 p.m.
The levied millage rates will not exceed: Allocated Operating .7750, Extra Voted Operating .2188, Voted Roads .9939, Emergency Services 1.75, Extra Voted Emergency Services .75.
This is a proposed increase of .8097 mills in the operating tax millage rate to be levied on property in 2025.
If adopted, the proposed additional millage will increase operating revenues from ad valorem property taxes 42% over such revenues generated by levies permitted without holding a hearing.
If the proposed additional millage rate is not approved, the revenue will increase by .86% over the proceeding year’s operating revenue.
A copy of the proposed budget will be available for public inspection at the Jefferson Township Hall.

MCL 211.7u provides for a property tax exemption, in whole or part, for the principal residence of persons who, by reason of poverty, are unable to contribute to the public charges.
